Racism 2007: What it lookslike today and what every organization can do to respond to it
A free presentation and discussion with Joshua Miller, Ph.D.
Racism has been a part of the fabric of US society since the country's inception, although its manifestations change over time. People also have different experiences and levels of awareness about racism in their everyday lives, making it difficult to even talk about. Yet racism is ubiquitous, affecting every person and organization. This presentation will focus on how we can identify racism, talk about it, and respond to it, ranging from individual commitments to organizational and institutional changes.
Josh Miller is a professor of social work at Smith College in Northampton, MA and the author of Racism in the United States: Implications for the Helping Professions. He has conducted numerous workshops for professionals about racism.
